Three-time Grammy Award winner Fergie is teaming with Brown Shoe Co. Inc. to create her namesake shoe brand set to debut in spring 2009, the company announced Thursday. Plans for the launch of Fergie footwear include a Web site and personal appearances. Early designs of the brand will be on display at this June’s Fashion Footwear Association of New York shoe show. “We envision the Fergie consumer as a woman who is chic and fashionable, loves to wear the latest trends, and looks for distinctive details when shopping for shoes to add to her already considerable collection — much like Fergie herself,” Brown Shoe Wholesale President Gary Rich said in a statement. The singer, songwriter and actress joins fellow musicians Carlos Santana and Reba McEntire on Brown Shoe’s roster of entertainment brand partners. “I have always loved fashion because it’s a great way to express your mood. And I’m definitely a shoe lover,” Fergie said in a statement. “The right pair of shoes can change the feel of an outfit, and even change how a woman feels about herself.” St. Louis-based Brown Shoe Co. Inc. (NYSE: BWS) owns and markets shoes under the Naturalizer, LifeStride, Connie, Buster Brown and other brands; and operates the Famous Footwear and Naturalizer retail stores. The company operates a design studio and showroom in Manhattan, and global offices in China, Italy and Brazil. Brown Shoe has about 13,000 employees worldwide. [Source]
